Meet Steffen Lassen, DDS
The Professional Side
Born in Camarillo, CA, Dr. Lassen grew up as the seventh of nine children in a family that couldn’t afford regular dental care. He only saw a dentist when something hurt—which usually meant major work was needed. At age 21, during his first comprehensive exam, he was told he required extensive treatment. The first dentist he met was focused on money and status, but the second one—a friend of a friend—offered to complete the work for a fraction of the cost and treated him with kindness and respect. That experience not only saved many of Dr. Lassen’s teeth but also inspired him to pursue a career in dentistry. He saw firsthand how a compassionate dentist could change someone’s life, and it shaped his commitment to providing excellent care with empathy and integrity.
After graduating from Brigham Young University and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, Dr. Lassen has practiced dentistry since 2017. Along with general dentistry, he specializes in wisdom tooth extractions, IV sedation, dental implants and All-on-X implants, veneers, same-day crowns and bridges, Invisalign®, and root canals. He enjoys helping patients feel safe and cared for in the dental chair, especially those with dental anxiety, through sedation dentistry and high-quality lasting treatment. Dr. Lassen is equally passionate about cultivating a thriving team culture where people feel supported and engaged.
Dr. Lassen is a fellow of the International Academy of Dental Implantology, both in periodontics and orthodontics. He is also an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Lassen was class president at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and was awarded the Dean’s Circle Scholarship.
The Personal Side
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Lassen enjoys fitness, mindfulness, spending time outdoors with his family (his two sons are amazing hikers; they recently backpacked 45 miles along the Rogue River), backpacking, vintage hi-fi music, and playing the bassoon. He has performed with local orchestras in Eugene (Riverside Chamber Orchestra, Eugene Springfield Community Orchestra).
Dr. Lassen loves camping off his dual-sport motorcycle on long multi-day trips with friends (recently completing the 55-mile Three Sisters Loop), raising koi fish in his backyard, and exploring food—whether cooking at home or discovering memorable restaurants.
He and his team are proud to be involved in:
- Veterans Free Day of Dentistry—Each year, they dedicate a day on or near Veterans Day to provide free care for veterans.
- Smiles Matter Initiative—Once a year, every team member is given $1,000 in free dentistry to gift to a patient of their choice.
- Annual Volunteer Day—Once per year, their whole team closes the clinic to serve at a local nonprofit. Last year, they volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Springfield, OR, which provides housing and support for families with seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.
